When repairing electrical equipment, provide an electrical isolation and a clearly visible disconnect point to ensure the personal safety of maintenance personnel [3]. 2. Isolating switches cannot be operated under load: They cannot be operated under rated load or heavy load, and cannot switch on/off load current and short-circuit current. However, those with arc-extinguishing chambers can be operated under light load and no-load lines.

Characteristics of isolation switches

1. When repairing electrical equipment, provide an electrical isolation point, and a clearly visible disconnection point to ensure the personal safety of maintenance personnel.
2. Isolating switches cannot be operated under load: they cannot be operated under rated load or heavy load, nor can they switch on/off load current and short-circuit current; however, those with arc-extinguishing chambers can be operated under light load and no-load lines.
3. During general energization operations: close the isolating switch first, then close the circuit breaker or load switch; during de-energization operations: open the circuit breaker or load switch first, then open the isolating switch.
4. When selecting, it is the same as other electrical equipment. Its rated voltage, rated current, dynamic stability current, thermal stability current, etc., must meet the needs of the application.
The function of the isolating switch is to disconnect the no-load current circuit, creating a clear disconnection point between the equipment under repair and the power source to ensure the safety of maintenance personnel. Isolating switches do not have a dedicated arc-extinguishing device and cannot cut off load current and short-circuit current; therefore, the isolating switch can only be operated after the circuit breaker has disconnected the circuit.
